Herakles knot earrings

The earrings were inspired by the Herakles knot design, recognized during Mycenaean period, and became particularly popular in the fourth century BC. The earring design is decorated with twisted wire ropes, and its symbolism is closely connected with marriage, and the knot that tied the bride's garment and was untied by the groom.
      24 Karat gold-plate over pewter and brass.
Measures approximately 1.1" x 1.75".
